TEACHING DESIGN
Topic: A LETTER FROM A PENFRIEND (reading)
Teaching aim : To let the students know about something about a penfriend and his or her daily life in their countries.
TEACHING PROCEDURES:
STEP 1:WARM-UP
At this section, Give some questions to my students.
E.g : Do you know what a penfriend is ?
Have you got a penfriend ?
How do you communicate with your penfriend?
After the students answer my questions. I will begin this new lesson .
STEP 2: Reading passage
First, I will show some pictures of the new words to the students.
E.g : ambition-wish or goal
architect-a person who plans and designs a building
enclose-put inside
engineer---a person who plans,makes or repirs machines, engines, bridges.
keen on--- very interested in ; wanting to do something
After reading and knowing these words. I will play the record and some pictures for the students to help them to know about this passage well.
I will give them some minutes to read this passage by themselves. Before they read it , I will give them some questions to think about.
Where is the letter form (address)?
What is Sidney and what about his family?
What is he like? Please describe him to the class.
STEP 3: Exercise
After finishing reading this passage, they have known about the main idea they may answer these question easily. Besides answering these questions, I will also invite some students to introduce Sidney simply according those questions.
STEP 4: HOME WORK
Imagine that you have received the letter from Sidney .please write to him to tell him something about yourself.
